Memory Care

Memory Care at The Lutheran Home is a self-contained unit that provides specialized care to those who have memory loss, including those with dementia, cognitive impairment, mild behavioral issues, or Alzheimer’s. The design of the Memory Care promotes safety and independence. Our primary goal is to form a community among the staff, residents, and the residents’ families. We make every effort to recreate props and surroundings to help your loved ones connect with their past memories.

Your loved one will find peace and comfort in our outdoor sitting area, created to help bring calm and a touch of good times past. It is directly adjacent to our memory wall area, where different sites and scenes from around the area are in place to spark the memory and hopefully bring back warm feelings of their past.

Admittance to and from Memory Care requires the use of a keypad, helping to prevent residents from wandering from Memory Care. The unit features a dining room, outdoor patio, and an activity hall. The covered patio has comfortable lawn furniture and is surrounded by an enclosed courtyard where residents can enjoy fresh air, shade, and relaxation.

This shows a few of the areas and props we use to help your loved one reconnect with times past.
